Andrew Johnson
Document Signed
(1808-1875) Seventeenth
President of the United States who came to office following the
death of Abraham Lincoln. A squabble with Stanton along with
his Reconstruction policies led to an impeachment by Congress.
Document signed as President dated 5/8/1865.
An appointment document on vellum for Charles Albright promoting
promoting him to Brigadier General by Brevet. Also signed by
Edwin M. Stanton as Secretary of War. Albright would be
elected as Congressman from Pennsylvania after the war.
Rare! as most Johnson military appointments are stamped, folds and
some very minimal pest damage along the right border. otherwise
fine.
